    Inspiration:Mande design called "nyongui tournant" in Guinea, similar designs also done by Mande peoples in Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Mali and Senegal

    Inspiration:Nigerian (Hausa and Yoruba) spiral adire, especially the Hausa variety called mai shinkafa ("the one with rice")

    Technique:ruching: parallel lines of running stitch sewn on double cloth (right and left sides of shirt) to form a sleeve-case in which a pvc pipe is inserted, stitches pulled tight resulting in the fabric of the sleeve-case becoming scrunched up on the pipe

    Fabric:Cotton blend (Poly-Cotton?), machine knit or crochet, medium-heavy, wonderful drape, cool "nubby" texture; the synthetic (including the "nubs") does not dye, giving a beautiful speckled surface
